But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
~ 2 Corinthians 8:7
Vista Family and Friends,
My soul is bursting with encouragement and confidence regarding where God has Vista right now! That’s not to say that we’re complacent, because what’s clear is that God is preparing and positioning us for what’s next. A sense of certain preparation is what’s encouraging – a deepening confidence that God could keep using Vista for the good of the world and for His glory. What could be better than that?
The events of the last few months, particularly the process of a facility purchase and the myriad associated considerations, have caused us to assess our beliefs, practices and structures with greater scrutiny.
We are a community growing in number and also in substance as more worshipful, relational and missional people, but we have outgrown the systems that support what God is developing. The good news is that over the last 4 months we have taken significant strides toward longer-range strategies and improvement in administration and operations.
During the REACH series, we’d like to take the time to answer two questions. The first is, “Where are we headed?” What is the God-sized view of our future, and what sort of faith, sacrifice and resources will be required to experience the joy of joining God in it?
The second is, “What’s your (my) part?” What kind of investment will God ask you to make in order to reach more together?
As our future continues to take shape, please pray that I will be a good and clear spokesman. It is a responsibility and privilege that I don’t take lightly. Your part is no less important, and requires an equal commitment to prayer. Pray to hear from God and for the faith to respond to his direction. For this is certainly true: We will end up precisely where God wants us, only if it requires courageous faith to get there and only if we exercise that faith.
God’s journey is a compelling and unparalleled journey of faith that takes us where we would not go on our own. It brings passion, purpose and Presence like nothing else on the planet, and I can’t wait to keep leaning into Him and His plan for Vista with you.
REACH: March Update
Vista Community Church has been uniquely and significantly used by God to REACH, equip, transform, and mobilize a segment of the suburban population of Columbus for God, but in the past few years our gathering spaces have each become insufficient for various reasons. Even a healthy and growing church will eventually plateau if beliefs and practices are not supported by the right structures like: strategic plans, improved operations, and creative facility solutions. We’re working diligently in all of these areas and others because if we can REACH more, we can REACH further.
Here’s what “further” might look like in just 2 years!
- Our first Permanent Facility in the Northcentral region
- Our first 24/7 Middle-sized Space in the Northwest region
- The next Church Building in Kenya
- A new City Church in Cambodia leading to 100 new churches
- Attendance of 1,000 generating $250,000 in Global Missions
- Monthly middle school gatherings in a great space
- Our 60th Vista Leadership Residency (VLR) graduate
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
WHOLEHEARTED PARTICIPATION: That 100% of those who call VISTA home would allow their generous hearts to be a conduit from the heart of God to those who haven’t found their way back to God.
FULLY FUNDED VISION: As we consider the calling God has placed on Vista over the next two years, we are asking all of Vista to consider taking a step of faith in their generosity in order to resource the vision. This kind of generosity will press us into a season of advancing God’s mission to REACH more and further with the gospel message.
This Commitment Card was handed out during service on Sunday, February 12, 2017. If you were unable to attend, or have not yet made a commitment, please click on the image to view/print the card or make a commitment online here.
What Does “Further” Look Like Now?

We’ve been asked this important question, “Where does our giving go now?” It’s a good question because it’s important to know what we’ve done in the past, as we think about the future.
Each of these categories are tracked in much greater detail, but here is a graph which gives a general view of how your giving has been invested over the past 10 years and how it will continue.
