The Struggle Is Real

A nine-week message series.

When God selected Abraham to start a family of faith that would bless the nations, he chose Abraham to “direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord.” As he journeyed from fear to faith, he was to help others along that same journey.

This trajectory is at the heart of our faith. To be oriented towards God and to help others do the same. Part of the struggle of faith is the deep desire to help others to right belief, right action, and right feeling towards God and His world. And struggle we do.

The story of God’s people, called to bless the nations, is marked with fits, starts, wrong turns and embarrassing decisions. There are times when God’s people have obscured the very message of God. In those times, the church must confess. The Church must remember it is gathered around a confession.

We join our voices to the chorus of the ancients and the apostles. We confess the truth that there is a creator God who loves us. A God who created out of love. A God who became one of us in order to rescue us. A God who deeply desires to be with us and guide us through the gales of life.

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit have made a home for us. God calls us home in the midst of the struggle and He calls us to walk each other home.
